SCHOOL-BASED THERAPIST

Full-Time/Hourly —  Charleston, SC 

*Must have reliable transportation. Required to be on-site & at various schools thoughout Charleston County School District.

We are looking to hire an LPC, LPC-A, or LISW-CP to provide therapeutic services to various students in multiple schools within Charleston County School District, helping them to achieve emotional, mental, and social wellbeing. The School-Based Therapist will work closely with students, families, teachers, staff, and the MyNDSpace® Medical Director to develop and implement individualized treatment plans that address the needs of each student. Role and Responsibilities

Applicants will be responsible for providing the following:

  • Implement diagnostic skills by performing assessments and formulating a diagnosis and treatment recommendations for clients.

  • Develop measurable goals and objectives specific to each client and create a treatment plan to guide client’s services.

  • Conduct Individual, Family, and Group Therapy sessions in the home, office or telehealth environment.

  • Collaborate with team members, school personnel, and family members to help develop school, home, and community behavioral intervention plans for emotionally behavioral challenged students.

  • Participate in and provide all information for Individualized Education Plan Meetings, Family Treatment Plan Meetings, Behavioral Manifestation Hearings and all other student specific meetings, if needed.

  • Provide crisis counseling and intervention when needed at school or via telehealth in urgent cases.

  • Commit to a minimum of 30-35 hours of direct care services weekly. This may mean working with more than one family.

  • Delivering therapeutic intervention utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Interpersonal Psychotherapy, Mindfulness, Motivational Interviewing and Relapse Prevention, as appropriate.

  • Providing individual, family and couples evidence-based psychotherapies primarily in a school-based setting, but not limited to the outpatient setting in-person and via telemedicine.

  • Coordinate care and effectively communicate treatment and treatment plans with collaborating healthcare providers.

  • Conduct brief assessments and at times, assist in coordinating behavioral health and substance use disorder treatment.

 

Qualifications

  • Must be an LPC, LPC-A, or LISW-CP

  • 0-2 years of experience in behavioral health, preferably in an outpatient setting

  • Desire to provide compassionate, evidenced-based care that aligns with our mission

  • Aptitude for science-backed decision making and use proper judgment with confidential and sensitive issues

  • Psychoeducation for patients and their support systems

  • Facilitate group classes focused on a variety of lifestyle interventions

  • High integrity and sound judgement; able to react quickly and make effective decisions

  • Motivational Interviewing to develop behavioral strategies aimed at symptom reduction

  • Brief problem-solving cognitive intervention aimed at modifying negative thinking and promoting self-efficacy

  • Substance use/abuse evaluation, identification of maladaptive coping strategies, and development of harm reduction strategies

  • Coordination of Care - Provide consultation to and coordinate care of patients with health center primary care staff

  • Strong verbal and written communication

  • Empathetic & intuitive listener

  • Rapport building on a virtual platform and face to face

  • Comfortable providing counseling for anxiety, depression, mood disorders, and ADHD

  • Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis (We are not able to sponsor work visas at this time.)
